"Keep your focus on your goals, not your problems."

If you've been following along with me on the Sonata Equestrian Facebook Page, you already know that I've met with my first hiccup on my way to equestrian greatness, and I've undergone arthroscopic surgery on my knee for a torn meniscus.  I haven't ridden in now two weeks.  Surgery was yesterday, however, and I'm feeling pretty well.  My pain is being managed by less than half of what was prescribed, and I'm already bearing a little weight on it without too much discomfort.  I plan to be back in the saddle ASAP!

In the meantime, I've been stalking around the Internet for as many good reads on horses as I can find.  I've been watching videos, reading articles, studying anatomy-- anything I can find to help fill that horse-shaped hole in my life right now.  I've been reading articles on George Morris, and I ordered his book and Denny Emerson's book today.  The way I see it, just because the body can't be on a horse at the moment, doesn't mean the mind has to be stuck in bed with it.

In my mind, I'm riding, learning, and understanding all that I can.  When I'm well enough to ride again I want to be mentally prepared to reteach the body what the mind knows is possible.  I'm trying hard to take my mind off my problem, and keep it thoroughly focused on my goals!
